Q. Why should I become a member?
A. Joining our member area costs you nothing and it will only take you a few minutes to register. Within the member area you will find much more useful free information. Click on Membership Benefits to learn more
Q. What information do I have to give when I register?
A. You will be asked for very standard registration details such as name, company, telephone, email etc and you will be asked for your preferences in relation to the way we contact you. However, all information is confidential and will not be passed to ANY third party. Please click on Privacy Policy to understand more.
Q. What other services do you offer?
A. BeCompliant.co.uk is owned and operated by HazCom Ltd. As well as the services available through this website particularly within our subscription area, HazCom also offer services to help with Hazardous Waste issues. Please click on About HazCom to learn more.
Q. Why don't I just surf the Web for the information I need to comply with the Hazardous Waste Regulations?
A. Well you may be able to. However, it will be very time consuming, what you find will not be in simplified or condensed form and you certainly won't find what you need in one easy to use location. If you want to understand the Hazardous Waste Regulations, how to avoid waste offences and how to deliver a compliant business, you will find it all here, quickly and efficiently.
Q. Our Company has a Waste or Environmental Manager. What can your site offer to help them?
A. Although the BeCompliant.co.uk site is designed to help companies with less than 50 staff, larger companies can also benefit from our content and particularly from the Compliance Tools within our Subscription area. For example, where else will you find a software that you can access from anywhere with an internet link, which provides you with a database to manage your waste process, that allows you to produce consignment notes, prints and reports and which also guides you through the Environmental Regulations in a user friendly manner? If your waste manager is tackling their waste process using spreadsheets and handwriting documents, our services will save them time, money and assist with environmental compliance.
Q. How do I know my data is secure?
A. Your data can only be accessed with your login and password details (or those of an agreed additional user). Your data is as secure as your login details. Nobody else has access to it. Your data is stored on remote servers and is backed up daily. This is safe and remote data storage that you can access from anywhere in the world. Your data is both safe and convenient to access.
Q. I currently use a waste company that does all the work for me. Why should I change?
A. You don't have to change your waste company but you need to take into account that they have a vested interest in managing as much of the process as they can so that they can maximise their profit. They have their own legal responsibilities to comply with waste legislation and will have little interest in your compliance management. Your Legislative Compliance remains your responsibility.
Q. How can BeCompliant.co.uk help with my Duty of Care?
A. You have a Duty of Care to ensure that the waste you produce is stored correctly, transported correctly and disposed of or recovered in line with legislation. This is commonly called the 'cradle to grave' process. Our Subscription area provides you with your starting point and guides you to the end point of your waste disposal process and allows you to report your progress as well as alerting you to outstanding issues in the overall 'cradle to grave' loop. You will come full circle with our system and therefore fulfil your Duty of Care.
Q. What happens if I don't comply with the regulations?
A. What happens could vary from nothing to an unlimited fine and imprisonment. However, the more likely scenario is that at some point you will incur a formal caution, a prohibition notice and one or more fixed penalty fines of £300. You may even have a waste or environmental incident because you aren't managing the process correctly. One thing is certain though. The cost to your company will be high, which means less profit and a tarnished reputation.
Q. How much can I save by subscribing to BeCompliant?
A. This is a difficult one to answer, but avoiding one fixed penalty fine would be a £300 saving before taking into account the cost of time involved. In addition, using the average charge for a consignment note of £50, and if we say that you consign waste once every two months, that's another £300. What value would you put on being able to produce periodic waste movement and financial reports? What value would you put on your compliance with the regulations? What value would you put on your peace of mind and the protection of your organisations reputation? Finally, what value would you put on protecting the environment? Add these all together and deduct the subscription cost and you have your figure. We think your savings easily justify your subscription!
